The Los Angeles Lakers were playing on a championship level since the 1940s. In fact, this is even before they got their current name. The team began their game in Detroit, MI. Then they were forced to move to Minneapolis. The team settled down in Los Angeles since the 1960s and are based there to the present day.

Jerry West has been the most notable coach of Lakers. Jerry led the Lakers to several NBA final appearances during the decades of 1960 and 70. Jerry was a product of West Virginia University. In fact, Wilt Chamberlain became a legend during Jerry’s coaching stint. There were many players who played for Lakers over the years and worthy of remembrance. They include Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Jerry West and Kobe Bryant to name a few. Most of these players have been able to win the “Most Valuable NBA Player Awards” for their performances in the respective years.
The early 2000s was a great period in the Lakers’ history. During the period of 2000 to 2002, the team was able to account for three straight titles thanks to Kobe Bryant, Phil Jackson and Shaquille O’Neal. The team accommodated more than a dozen of “Hall of Fame” Players.
